Studiocanal launches horror title Ice Cream Man in 409 venues. Directed by Eli Roth, the slasher follows a mysterious ice cream vendor, played by Ari Millen, whose arrival in a tranquil suburban town sparks a descent into bloody chaos. The film has attracted attention for its apply of generative AI and also stars Roth himself and Benjamin Byron Davis.
Park Circus re-releases Flushed Away in 218 cinemas, 20 years after its original debut. The Aardman and DreamWorks animation follows an uptown rat whose life is transformed after being flushed into London’s underground waterways. The title returns as part of the Aardman: 50 Years Of Clay celebration.
Disney releases Super Troopers 3 in 216 sites. Directed by Jay Chandrasekhar, the comedy sequel follows Farva’s engagement to Thorny’s sister, which quickly descends into chaos. As the relationship unravels, the Super Troopers find themselves investigating a drug ring in a bid to save the day.
Conic opens Charlie McDowell’s drama The Summer Book in 63 cinemas. Based on Tove Jansson’s novel, the film follows adolescent Sophia, her father and grandmother as they spend a summer on a remote island in the Gulf of Finland while grappling with a recent family loss. Glenn Close, Emily Matthews and Anders Danielsen Lie star.
Vertigo Releasing brings Hunt For The Wilderpeople back to 44 screens for its 10th anniversary. Taika Waititi’s adventure comedy stars Julian Dennison and the delayed Sam Neill as a troubled city boy and his reluctant foster uncle, whose journey into the New Zealand wilderness sparks a nationwide manhunt. The film opened with £167,889 for 63 sites back in 2016.
Tape Collective rolls out Meriem Bennani’s animated drama Bouchra in 18 venues. A semi-autobiographical story, the film explores the director’s personal journey of self-discovery. The voice cast includes Bennani, Yto Barrada, Orian Barki, Salima Dhabi, Ariana Faye Allensworth and Fayçal Azizi.
Radiance Films re-releases Michael Almereyda’s Nadja in two locations. The 1994 horror feature follows Count Dracula’s daughter as she navigates life in contemporary New York following her father’s death. The cast includes Elina Löwensohn, Peter Fonda and David Lynch. The film will also screen at London’s Prince Charles Cinema on October 4.
Trafalgar Releasing launches ATEEZ: Light The Way in 33 venues. The immersive VR concert experience combines performances of the K-pop group’s global hits with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage.
Also from Trafalgar Releasing is The 9th Annual Grateful Dead Meet-Up At The Movies, opening in nine sites. The event features previously unreleased footage from the band’s 1991 performance at Giants Stadium.
