Amazon MGM’s Masters Of The Universe and Paramount’s Scary Movie are the key fresh releases in UK and Ireland cinemas this weekend.
Sony is distributing Masters Of The Universe, on behalf of Amazon, in 610 locations. Travis Knight directs the sword and sorcery film based on the Mattel franchise. Nicholas Galitzine stars as Prince Adam, who returns to his home planet to take his destiny as He-Man and save his home from evil. Camilla Mendes, Jared Leto, Alison Brie and Idris Elba also star.
Paramount is launching Scary Movie in 576 venues. It is the sixth entry in the horror film parody franchise and the first since 2013’s Scary Movie 5 which opened with the lowest debut of the series on £1.1m.
The Wayans brothers return as the writers of the film while Marlon and Shawn Wayans also return to star alongside Anna Faris and Regina Hall. Scary Movie parodies recent horror films, including Get Out, Weapons, Sinners and Longlegs.
Elsewhere, Piece Of Magic is releasing The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act in 572 sites. The film is the feature-length conclusion to the popular animated web series about a group of people trapped inside a virtual circus.
Claire Foy and Richard E Grant star in the 18th-century set satire Savage House which Paramount opens in 308 cinemas. Peter Clanz’s comedy follows two nobles and their blind pursuit of a better life.
In re-releases, Park Circus has Paul Feig’s Bridesmaids screening in 146 locations for its 15th anniversary while BFI Distribution has a 4K restoration of John Huston’s 1961 film The Misfits in 14 locations.
Indian romance Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai opens in 66 venues for Bakrania Media.
CinemaLive is screening the event release Riverdance – 25th Anniversary Show in 64 sites.
Charli XCX drama Erupcja opens in 46 cinemas for Vertigo Releasing. Peter Ohs’s Toronto premiere follows an intense relationship between a Polish florist and a British tourist.
Ido Fluk’s German music drama Koln 75 launches in 33 locations via Vue Lumiere. The film, which premiered at Berlinale earlier this year, centres on German composer Vera Brandes.
Curzon has Robin Campillo’s Cannes 2025 premiere Enzo in 21venues. The coming-of-age drama centres on a 16-year-old who defies his parents’ expectations by starting a masonry apprenticeship where he meets a charismatic Ukrainian.
