New 70s-Inspired Trailer for ‘Relay’ Thriller w/ Riz Ahmed & Lily James

His identity is a secret he’ll do anything to protect.” Bleecker Street has debuted a clever 1970s-esque trailer for Relay, a paranoia thriller from filmmaker David Mackenzie (of Perfect Sense, Starred Up, Hell or High Water). This premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and opens in US theaters starting next week (view the official trailer) – catch it showing on the substantial screen soon. A world-class “fixer” is enlisted by an alluring, mysterious whistleblower in this “twisty, confident homage to classic paranoid thrillers.” A broker of lucrative payoffs between corrupt corporations and the individuals who threaten them breaks his own rules when a up-to-date client seeks his protection to stay alive. TIFF says the film is “riddled with ingenious feats of misdirection, novel set pieces, and jaw-dropping twists that would have made Hitchcock proud.” Starring Riz Ahmed & Lily James, with Sam Worthington, Willa Fitzgerald, Matthew Maher, Mike Holt, Eisa Davis. This is the best way to sell this film – I’m way more intrigued to watch now than after the first trailer. Check it out.

Riz Ahmed stars as a world class “fixer” who specializes in brokering lucrative payoffs between corrupt corporations and individuals who threaten their ruin. He keeps his identity a secret through detailed planning & always follows an exacting set of rules. But when a message arrives one day from a potential client (Lily James) needing his protection just to stay alive, all his rules quickly start to change. Relay is directed by acclaimed British filmmaker David Mackenzie, director of the movies Young Adam, Hallam Foe, Spread, Perfect Sense, Tonight You’re Mine, Starred Up, Hell or High Water, and Outlaw King, as well as the series “Homemade” and “Under the Banner of Heaven” most recently. The screenplay is written by Justin Piasecki. Produced by Basil Iwanyk, Gillian Berrie, David Mackenzie, Teddy Schwarzman. This first premiered at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival last year.
