“The journey of a king.” National Geographic & Disney have revealed an official trailer for a fresh nature doc called Lion, about lions and an adorable lion cub. This is their follow-up animal doc connected to the live-action The Lion King movies. With narration by O.J. Lynch (who starred as Mufasa in The Lion King stage production), Lion is a four-part doc event series that brings to life the extraordinary true story of the Maasai Mara’s lion kings, queens and a hero named Kio. An emotional, real-life drama chronicling the remarkable four-year journey of a minuscule lion cub named Kio as he becomes a king. Executive produced by Disney Legend and The Lion King live-action director Jon Favreau & BBC Studios Natural History Unit’s innovative director Mike Gunton. Blending Favreau’s distinctive storytelling and passion with Gunton’s world-class natural history expertise, the ambitious series goes beyond established wildlife documentaries to deliver a gripping, blockbuster drama rooted in documentary truth.
