Golden Bear-winner Carla Simón will preside over the jury for miniature films and the La Cinef prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival (May 12-23).
The Spanish director won Berlinale’s top prize in 2022 for Alcarràs and was in the Cannes Competition last year with Romería.
Also joining the jury are actress and visual artist Park Ji-Min, in Cannes this year for Christophe Honoré’s Orange-Flavoured Wedding; Iranian director Ali Asgari, whose most recent film Divine Comedy was at Venice; actor and director Salim Kechiouche, who appeared in Palme d’Or winner Blue Is the Warmest Colour; and Magnus von Horn, director of 2025 Cannes Competition title The Girl With The Needle.
They will judge 10 titles competing for the miniature film prize and 19 student films in the La Cinef selection.
The miniature film Palme d’Or will be handed out at the festival’s closing ceremony on Saturday, May 23. The La Cinef winners will be crowned at a ceremony on Thursday, May 21 in the Buñuel Theatre.
Four of the 10-strong miniature selection are directed by women. The films were selected from 3184 submissions.
