That means the fifth and final season of The Bear, plus the third season of House of the Dragon, will be eligible next year. As for the pop cultural phenomenon known as Heated Rivalry, Emmy rules state that TV shows backed by production companies outside of the US are ineligible for the Primetime Emmy Awards; and because the hit queer hockey romance is financed by Canadian companies, it could not be honored. However, one of its on-the-rise leading men, Connor Storrie, is nominated for guest-hosting a February episode of Saturday Night Live—a category presented at the untelevised Creative Arts Emmys across September 5 and 6 in Los Angeles.
As for the main telecast, broadcast live from LA’s Peacock Theater on September 14, 2026 Emmy nominations are led by HBO Max’s breakthrough medical drama The Pitt—which earned 25 nods—and trailed closely by the final installment of HBO comedy series Hacks (24 nods), as well as two fresh shows from Apple TV: Matthew Rhys–led crime comedy Widow’s Bay (19 nods) and Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan’s twisty drama Pluribus (18 nods). The night’s most-nominated constrained series is the second season of Lee Sung Jin’s Beef, which starred Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, Cailee Spaeny, and Charles Melton, with a respectable 16 nominations. Each of those actors is Emmy-nominated except for Spaeny.
