The Lord of the Rings fans have a lot to be excited about in the next few years, even if the golden era of the franchise is now more than 20 years in the rearview mirror. Earlier this year, Warhorse Studios confirmed that it was working on a up-to-date open-world Lord of the Rings game that will allow players to explore the many different biomes that Middle-earth has to offer. Warner Bros is also challenging at work developing the next Lord of the Rings movie, The Hunt for Gollum, which stars Andy Serkis as Gollum, who also directs the film. Other tenured Lord of the Rings veterans like Elijah Wood and Ian McKellen are returning to their respective roles as Frodo and Gandalf, and younger action stars like Anya Taylor-Joy and Leo Woodall are starring in up-to-date roles.
Another invigorating release coming up on the schedule is The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which has already been set for release on November 11. Prime Video is releasing the first half of Season 3 on November 11, with Episodes 5 and 6 following one week later on November 18 and the final two episodes dropping on November 25. This is quite a departure from the weekly release model of the first two seasons. Prime Video also announced this afternoon that, in collaboration with Alliance Home Entertainment, the first two seasons of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power are officially getting a physical media release. This includes a 4-disc 4k Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD sets dropping on November 3, and a confined edition 4K UHD steelbook dropping a month later on December 1.
