Do you want the good news or the bad news first? Since this is pertaining to The Batman, and Robert Pattinson’s take on the Dark Knight is of the emo persuasion, we’ll go bad news up front: The Batman Part II has been delayed again. Since The Batman – director Matt Reeves’ first foray into the DC universe – was released all the way back in 2022, fans are waiting an almightily long time for his follow up. (At least we had The Penguin series in the meantime, in 2024.) With shooting on the sequel underway, Part II was finally slated for an October 2027 release. But now it’s been pushed back again, after several previous hold-ups, now due to arrive in February 2028.
Still, as we said, there’s good news too. News of the updated release window comes alongside a low camera test teaser video, showing Pattinson back in the Bat cowl. It’s a moody 30-ish seconds, depicting Batman standing in the darkness of a snowy Gotham – as police cars with wailing sirens drive towards him. And while it’s just a glimpse, it’s a tantalising one – especially when combined with Michael Giaccino’s two-note musical refrain.
Here’s hoping The Batman Part II will be worth the six year wait. We’ll find out exactly what R-Battz is up against this time when The Batman Part II arrives on February 18 2028.
