With just over a week to go before the opening ceremony, the Cannes Film Festival 2026 has unveiled its jury of prestige actors and filmmakers that will surround South Korean director, screenwriter and producer Park Chan-wook as president. Acting, directing, screenwriting, production: many facets of the film world are represented on this jury which, unlike the fest’s very French programming, does not include any French personalities.
The Cannes Film Festival jury, typically a nine-person panel of international filmmakers, actors, and artists, is tasked with selecting the winners of the competition and creating their own shortlist of 22 films, before bestowing the prestigious Palme d’Or to one lucky title. This year’s jury includes Demi Moore, Ruth Negga, Laura Wandel, Chloé Zhao, Diego Céspedes, Isaach de Bankolé, Paul Laverty, and Stellan Skarsgård, fresh off his first best-supporting-actor Oscar nomination for Sentimental Value.
Skarsgård played the male lead in Sentimental Value, directed by Joachim Trier, Grand Prix winner at the last festival. Breaking the Waves, another Grand Prize-winning film, brought him to international attention in 1996. Two of the other Cannes Film Festival 2026 jurors have recently experienced special moments at the festival. Moore starred in Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance, which won the 2024 screenplay prize before later receiving multiple Oscar nominations. Meanwhile, Chilean director and screenwriter Céspedes walked away from Cannes 2025 with the Un Certain regard prize for The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo, his first feature film.
