UK distributor Elysian Film Group Distribution has ceased trading, while founder Danny Perkins has confirmed his production company remains busy.

“Elysian Film Group Distribution Ltd is no longer trading and is subject to a formal insolvency process,” said a statement from Perkins.

“Elysian Film Group Ltd, the production company, continues to operate independently and remains active.”

Elysian Film Group Distribution was founded by former Studiocanal CEO Perkins in 2020 as a distribution arm of his production outfit, with backing from CAA. The Boy And The Heron (released in partnership with Anonymous Content and Bleecker Street) was its best-performing release, grossing £5.1m in the UK-Ireland in 2024. The company also released Take That musical Greatest Days, which grossed £1.9m in 2023, Ballywalter in 2023 and Earwig And The Witch in 2021.

According to the company’s most recent filing with Companies House, for the year ending March 31, 2025, Elysian Film Group Distribution had a negative net worth of £341,130, and two employees, with Nick McKay as head of distribution. In 2024, the company had a positive net worth of £10,004.

Perkins’ focus of behind schedule has been producing, with a slate including The Magic Faraway Tree, which was released by Entertainment Film Distributors in the UK-Ireland this year and has grossed £15.1m to date in the territory, with two sequels in the works.

Deadline was first to report the insolvency.
